Small Update - Capture the Flag

Hey, just a small update today guys. still having trouble with the clients. Some work in some ways, but are broken in others, while others work in other ways, but are brokin in the ways the first ones worked.. It's a headache. Anyway, I started working on the capture the flag today. It's really quite good looking so far. Here's how it works:

Capture the Flag
At the start, players create 2 teams and register them with the event npc. Each team will then be warped to their designated area on the map. One team will be the red team, and all their clothes will temporarily turn red for the CTF match, as well as the blue team's clothes colors turning blue (As shown below). A countdown timer will start from 5, and then they will be able to move and kill stuff.

Once CTF begins, each base will have a flag. The flag on each side will be an item, shown here:

The blue broadcast says "Flag respawned at Blue Base!"

Since each flag will be a regular item, it will be able to be picked up. If a red player picks up the blue flag, it will automatically equip as a 2handed melee weapon, as if they were carrying it. If the player carrying the flag dies, the flag will automatically be unequipped, and dropped out of their inventory and back onto the ground.

When a flag is on the ground and not at the base, it will automatically respawn at the base after 1 minute. Or, it can be set to be respawned at the base once the team picks up their own flag. Either one can be set, or both, depending on what the players want when the server opens.

Also, unequipping the flag, or equipping any other weapon/shield will automaically drop the flag back on the floor. So basically, you're either holding the flag, or it is on the ground. It will never be in your inventory.

In addition to all this, the game will be commentated, with announcements saying when a certain flag has been dropped, stolen from a base, or a point has been scored.

As well as the commentary, you will also always be able to see the position of any controlled flags on your minimap. So if your flag is at your base, it will show on your minimap. If someone steals your flag, it will vanish from your minimap, until that person is dead, and the flag is sitting back on the floor, then it will re-appear. Also, if one of your players steals the enemies flag, and is carrying it, it will show the enemies flag on your minimap too, so you can go help that player out. (This can also be changed once the server is open, to always show both flags, never show them, etc)

One small other thing to note, is destructable walls. By this I mean that in some PvP maps (CTF maps included) there will be wall monsters that is just a monster that looks exactly like a wall. But this is no ordinary monster, this monster actually blocks your path! So in the current CTF map I'm working on for example, there are shortcuts to the backs of the bases, but each shortcut is blocked off by these wall monsters, and the only way to get past them is to kill them, but watch out, they have a ton of hp. These walls will also be sprinkled sparingly around the maps, to give the illusion of destructable environments that get destroyed and reveal new paths as you fight.

That sounds fun, but will it benefit me in any way?
You may remember the pvp points talked about in the first post. This is one of those events that will earn you pvp points. You may get 1 point for killing the flag carrier in this mode, 1 point for returning the flag, 5 points for capturing a flag, and if your team wins, they will all get 5 points each (PvP points may vary). You can then spend those points on stronger custom gear to use in this and other PvP events to make your character even stronger. If that's not enough, there will be rankings in CTF too, and all of the other PvP events, which may include most flag captures, most CTF wins, most flag carrier kills, etc. There may even be guild based CTF's and such, as well as Guild CTF rankings.

That's all for now. If you didn't understand what I meant about Lenneth having a big portion of PvP mixed in it before, this is it. I'm pulling out all the stops, and coding some really detailed aspects into the PvP portion of the game that has never been done before, and will truely be something revolutionary to RO. If you like PvP, Lenneth will be an experience you won't forget.

Fishing + Big Update

Fishing, yes, fishing! What does Ragnarok need more than a place to fish?

Yeah, reel it good!

Why Fishing?
Why fishing, you ask? Why not? Not only is it a fun way to kill time, you can get some very
snazzy rewards, too, including powerful healing items, equipment and quest items that are not obtainable any other way.
(Caution: Lenneth fishing has been known to get quite addictive)

How to fish?
To begin fishing, you, logically, need a fishing rod, and bait. Equip your fishing rod like any other two-handed weapon, and bait is equipped like bullets or arrows. To start whiling away the time, simply walk onto the dock with your rod and suitable bait equipped, and you will be asked if you want to start fishing. If you chose yes, you will have to do a small mini game that involves pressing the right menu items in order to reel in, and eventually catch the fish. But watch out! You only have 10 seconds to do this before the fish gets away, and rarer fish will be harder to reel in!

How can I improve my fishing?
I addition to the improvable fishing gear, there is a fishing experience system. The less you fish, the more common items you will catch, or sometimes you'll have no bites at all. The more you fish, the better your fishing rate will become, and you will catch rarer items. As most all weapons, the type and refine rate improves your fishing rate. Beginning with a wooden rod, bought from the Fishing NPC, you can hunt or quest for better rods, with better rates.

Is there anything else that might help?
Bait is also a contribution to your success. You need to use a bait 20 times before you can upgrade to the next level of bait. In order, there is Poor, Fair (both bought from the Fishing NPC) Average, Good, Superior and Ultimate Baits (monster drops). In addition to all that, your BASE stats also contribute to your success rate. (buffs, job and item bonuses don't count) Your DEX and LUK improves your fishing rate, and every 5 AGI gives you an extra second on top of the original 10 to reel the fish in.

I'm still not.. "Hooked"
Well, in addition to the great healing items (fish), and rare regular items that you get from fishing, it's also a good form of making some zeny if you're too low level to hunt it. But most of all, fishing is great for - Bragging rights! Fishing is included in all the rankings (in the control panel, and npc's in game) in the server, so be prepared to be labeled the best (or worst) fisher to ever hit Ragnarok Online!
Get out there and Grab that Fish!
Big Update:
Alrighty, not much progress today, but here's a lot of words for ya on some other things. Did a lot of work over the past few days, and now there's a small few people helping out with that new system I promised that was going to bring out the old builds, so that small bit of extra help is a huge load off my shoulders. Spent the day today fiddling with the latest xRay client, not having any of it work completely wasting my time, and pulling out the last bit of hair I had left (Just kidding, I have a full head of hair, just heard that somewhere and wanted to say it)... Anyway! Had a lot to do today, not much time to work on the server, but the time I did work on it, gave me a lot of issues with that newest xRay client (the exe you run to start the game). I'll try some more and see how it goes. The server is otherwise in good shape, going at a nice shcedual. Pretty much all of the new content I planned is in (Except for that huge PvP system thinger with the pvp items, constant dynamic events, etc, which I'm planning to start working on and implimenting once the server is open, because that will be a week or two's work in itself). So just a few more server polishing and it's ready for the next stage.. the official client making stage (Oh dear =/ *Prays that xRay starts working as it's suppose to*).

Also a small teaser about the website, I have many things planned for this new website. It's going to be quite dynamic, including instant donations, rankings for every possible thing you could think of (most deaths, most monsters killed, most pvp kills, best fishing, first classes to reach 99 reborn, best kafra customer, etc), small rewards for voting, and more.
The biggest things planned are... (These are all planned out, but they will be created after the server's opening, so it won't be delayed)
- Dynamic server map: This will show the world map, where you are on it (if logged in), for privacy reasons it will not show where other players are, but you can click any area, and it will draw a line through all the maps, and show the closest path for how you can get there by foot, airplane, etc. It may also eventually be upgraded to show the monsters on each map and such.
- Character Database: Type in the name of any character online, or click the name of any character you see on any of the ranking pages, and the character will show up on your screen wearing full gear, exactly how they appear in the game. If the character has selected "Show my stats to other players" in his profile, you will be able to see his stats, skills, guild, inventory, and everything about that player. If he has not selected that option (default), his stats will remain hidden.
- Item and monster database: Just like you will find on other RO website databases, but these will show the exact droprates, exp rates, and stats of all the monsters in Lenneth. They will also show any custom gear a monster might drop, as well as descriptions and stats for custom items.
There's some other things planned, but to avoid spoiling any more surprises, let's leave it at that.

In time, you'll discover that in comparison to other servers, there is a big difference.
Average Server

And Lenneth will grow every day... Imagine the possibilities.

Mini Update

Hey everyone, I've been planning on discussing a new topic on the server every 2 days, along with an update. Unfortunately today there won't be one, since I ran short on time (Got lots done today). So instead there's going to be a nice big, juicy update tomorrow, it will show the Fishing engine in depth, as well as other fun events and activities that will keep you entertained in Lenneth. Until then, you can enjoy the nice 6% added onto the progress bar :D. All the small new content into the server is almost done!

Fun, unique customs + Update

Lenneth is the proud home of many exciting custom items and monsters.

Sonaris marvels at J-Rok's intoxicating aroma

The items and monsters are all very unique and well thought out. Some include beans, which often make you fart, a camo potion, which camouflages your character for a brief amount of time, while making him harder to hit, and animal poop, which when used, summons an evil Pooring.

Here we can see the Pooring, plotting it's evil deeds. Just look at it... Staring back at us with it's corn eyes... Also, both the Mooring (shown above) and the Pooring are custom pets, as well as many others! And not only are the custom pets downright sexy, but they actually attack with you and help you fight! (Not in PvP of course).

Lastly, we see J-Rok in camouflage, not invisible like cloak, but transparent. You can see him while under the effects of the Camo Potion, but it still provides enough camouflage for him to slip amongst his enemies like a cat, or, a transparent J-Rok

Update:

So far all the old Lenneth content has been put in, all the item and monster ID's have been extended because of all the new official things coming out. So it took a while to change all the old item and monster ID's in all the scripts. Kittie is learning a lot and doing a wonderful job at making some new items and monsters. She's got a special group of 5 monsters ready, they're going to turn into an event on the server. Here's a hint at what monsters she made... They are from a game that nearly everyone on earth has played. One of the first (and most known) games ever. :)

I've started work on the super special thing that's going to change the way people play Ragnarok Online (In a good way of course!).. To be honest, I've just started making the calculator. Yes it's so awesome it needs it's own special calculator for proper builds-er.. I said too much. Anyway, much more on that later on into the server's developement.

Lenneth is Back!

Over a year after it's release, Lenneth is no longer AWOL! Lenneth is finally making it's way back with improved features, quests, NPC's, and many new surprises up it's sleeve.

It started over a year ago, bringing many new features and ideas to Ragnarok Online. Quality was it's main concern. The goal of Lenneth, was to let the players have as enjoyable a time as possible, while making them feel at home in a polished and professional feeling server.

What happened?
The fall of Lenneth was caused a few months later by an exploit in a database program we were running. We had upgraded the database software to the newest version, which unfortunately for us, had an exploit that allowed people (with some devious scripting) to get into the database.

Before we had a chance to patch up this exploit, someone had already gotten inside, created a GM for himself, and messed around in the server, dropping rares, killing people, and generally being an ass, giving Lenneth the look of a corrupt server, which noone likes. Unfortunately the admin was not on at the time, not told of this and another GM just changed the passwords not knowing they could be bypassed with the exploit. A few days later the "hacker" returned, deleted the entire server, and messed everything up beyond recognition. The backup files were somehow corrupted and the last backup files that would work were from a week earlier. It was all bad luck at that point, and many people left due to the "GM" incident, the week rollback, and Lenneth was lost.

Now that it's coming back, there are going to be many operations in place ensuring that any of the events that happened last time, would be impossible this time. Security is going to be tight all around, with daily full server backups, and a new way of running the server and database, making it impossible to hack.

What are the rates and such?
For those of you new to Lenneth-RO, it is a low rate server. The statistics are:
Base Exp: 10x (20x pre-transcendent)
Job Exp: 10x (20x pre-transcendent)
Item Drop Rate: 10x (Minimum drop rate is 0.5% for non-cards, instead of 0.1%)
Max Level: 99
Max Job: 50 (70 for transcendent)
WoE: 3 Times a week (may change)
PvP Events: Each PvP Event will run multiple times a day, so you could pretty much do the PvP events nonstop if you wanted. (See 'How will PvP be?' for information on PvP events)
Extra NPC's: Resetter (Costs zeny based on level), DeSlotter (Costs zeny and breaks item or card, your choice), Warper (Kafra can warp you to any town for a fee, and to any dungeon for a fee, if you have been to the dungeon first), Event warper (Kafra can warp you to any event that is being held by a GM), Healer (Costs zeny based on how much hp/sp will be healed)

It will be a PK server, so watch your back!

What's new?
A big new addition is a new system (will be discussed further in the future) that will allow all the old unpopular builds that you /pif at; battle Priest, combo Monk, etc, to be as strong as the more popular ones. and truly make each character unique, by fine tuning some aspects of their choice, while maintaining balance. Making each character truly unique, this system will allow you to fine-tune and strengthen aspects of your choice, while maintaining balance.

Also, a quest log will be added to track your quest progress. Can't remember what to do, where to go, or who to return the quest to? No problem, just pop open your quest log, it will show you all of these things, including how many items you still need, or how many monsters you have left
to kill, and what the item rewards are. There will be a new quest system which will allow people to level up and get unique items by doing quests, involving NPC finding, item retrieval, killing monsters and more, instead of the usual "grind till you're 99".

How will PvP be?
Not only will the new Lenneth have the old 5 different PvP arenas with unique settings (higher stats arena, 4x hp/sp arena, equal stats arena, etc), but about half of Lenneth will be geared around a huge PvP aspect. There will be many daily scheduled PvP events including capture the flag, assault, infiltration (planting a bomb in the enemy base, while they try to diffuse it), death match, team death match, and many more.

There will also be a whole new set of specialized PvP equipment that can be purchased using your 'PvP points' (gained through these PvP events). This equipment can only be used in these events and arenas, keeping the rest of the game balanced. So the more you PvP in these new daily events, the better and stronger you and your character will become. (These items will only work inside of those specialized PvP arenas and events). If you live competition, this is the server for you.

As well as new additions, and improvements of old additions and features, a whole new automatic bot catching system is going to take place to ensure Lenneth is as bot-free as it is fun.

What else is there?
Remember to check back occasionally. This blog will be updated fairly often with server progress, features, pictures, and detailed explanations of everything that has been mentioned, plus all the other features not yet discussed.

Stick with Lenneth, and you won't just experience another server, you'll experience something you'll never forget.

- Because there's Ragnarok, and then there's Lenneth.
